Your Tongue is a Weapon!

We must keep our tongues on lockdown

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of April, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on Spiritual Weapons. The enemy is looking to kill, steal and destroy us. Learn how to defeat the enemy with the weaponry God has given to all believers.

”Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice” Ephesians 4:31

When you think about weapons; more than likely you envision guns and knives. Some people may envision their fists or anything that you can get their hands on that will do damage to someone who has offended you or someone you love. Generally speaking, there is a weapon that people don’t consider to be as dangerous and damaging as it actually is. Yes, I’m talking about the tongue. The Bible says “ And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.” James 3:6.

Yes, that little red member that we were born with can cause more damage perhaps than any weapon that is in your arsenal. The enemy loves for you to use your tongue without meditating on what comes out of your mouth before releasing it. We have two sets of teeth on the bottom of our mouths and the top as well. We must keep our tongues on lockdown as we ponder on what to say out of our mouths. Apostle James who was the head of the Mother Church in Jerusalem says” Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.” James 1:19-20.

I believe that this is one of the reasons why the Lord gave us two ears and one mouth. We should be prepared to listen twice as much as to offer an unwanted opinion. When we get angry and it will happen; it becomes easy to be governed by our emotions. Emotions oftentimes will lead us to a place where we do not want to go, and the damage caused could be devastating. More on this vital subject about the mouth tomorrow! ”Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice” Ephesians 4:31.
