You Have Joy When Edifying Someone Else

A word spoken in due season, how good is it.

"a word spoken in due season, how good is it." Proverbs 15:23.

Joy January 12, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

Many people in this world love to hear themselves talk. People who are well-educated, for the most part, like to listen to themselves talk. The reason is that they feel like they have something productive to say. There are many lonely people who, when they have someone cross their paths in life, are willing to listen to them; they have a lot to share. What about the person who appeared to be "a man of a few words," but once you got to know them, the floodgates of conversation suddenly erupted!

Quality time, as I have expressed recently, is the one love language everyone needs from time to time. The primary goal in spending quality time with someone dear to you is for you to be one of two things. If you're a friend needing quality time, then you need that special someone to allow you to speak to them from your heart as you share what needs to be revealed. If you're a good listener and someone needs quality time, that is what that other person needs, and that's for you to be simply a good listener as they share what's on their heart. Regardless of how much education a person achieves, the Scripture says," Be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath." James 1:19.

We should be mindful of what we say because "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Proverbs 18:21. We all will own every word we speak in this world. The joy of saying something that gives life to someone is immeasurable. A word spoken at the right time has saved lives, and the person speaking to them may never know. You have joy when edifying someone else with wise words because you're blessed when you do it. It's joy that drives you to speak. That joy is the power of the Holy Spirit that can't be contained. It's like water boiling in a tea kettle. The whistle blows, and it's due to empower someone else and is noticed! Instead, you are a person of many or a few words; "a word spoken in due season, how good is it." Proverbs 15:23. What are your thoughts?
