You Can Have Hope Today!

Don't let a spirit of depression darken your dreams

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of February, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on the topic of #HOPE. The Bible says "hope deferred maketh the heart sick." What does that mean? The world oftentimes speaks of hope as wishful thinking, is this the same hope the bible teaches? Stay connected to learn more.

"For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou will hear, my Lord my God." Psalms 38:15

Hope February 12, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

Today is a special day in the history of our nation because it's the day that our 16th President Abraham Lincoln was born. Most of us know that he was the President that abolished slavery by signing the Emancipation Proclamation, but there are some other things that you may not know. Abraham Lincoln struggled with depression throughout his life. During those times which were nearly 200 years ago, they didn't have the type of medicine needed to treat his disease. The Bible says “Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases” Psalms 103:2-3.

Some people today suffer from depression so badly that medication in some cases, might be needed. In the case of President Lincoln, he was able to battle through it. He failed twice in business. He lost the race for the Senate twice. The House speaker and congressman have added failures to His resume. He even was denied the Vice presidency. But he didn't give up! I believe that President Lincoln was a God-fearing man. He had to envision himself becoming the President of the United States. He believed that the Lord heard his prayer and that kept his hope alive. God used him to free people in this nation who had been in bondage for centuries.

God wants to use you today to free people who are in bondage to the Enemy we know as the devil and the forces of darkness working with him to hold as many people captive as possible. When the opportunity presented itself to him, President Abraham Lincoln was the vessel God used to impact this nation in a great way. You can have hope today! Don't let a spirit of depression darken your dreams. You too can accomplish something great in this world. Keep your hope in Jesus Christ! "For in thee, O LORD, do I hope: thou will hear, my Lord my God." Psalms 38:15. What are your thoughts?
