Whenever you're under attack and your enemy is firing at you; how should you counter it? The best remedy is to pick up something to defend yourself. The shield is the largest part of the Armour of the Christian. It is wide enough to protect the entire body when the fiery darts of the wicked are being aimed at us! When the Apostle Paul was in prison; he was under constant scrutiny by Roman guards. It's believed that this is where the metaphor about the parts of the Armour of the Christian derived from. Yes, he saw the Roman soldier take up that shield to defend himself! The Bible says "Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked." Above all means: above all! Faith is that important to us as Christians! Without faith, it is impossible to please God!
When Superman's enemies were firing at him; the bullets simply bounced off! They weren’t able to penetrate because he was equipped to resist them. If they weren’t able to penetrate that means that they weren’t able to hurt him. If they weren’t able to hurt him that means that they did not affect slowing him down or stopping him from fulfilling his will for this life! As children of the Almighty God, we've been equipped with the enablement to not allow the scheming attacks from the enemy of our lives to stop us. The only way that we can resist the devil is to submit ourselves to God. “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7. We simply have to take up the shield of Faith immediately, praise God! ”Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked.” Ephesians 6:16.
