Who is The Person That You Call Upon When You're in Trouble?

Never have anyone on a pedestal above the Lord.

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of February, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on the topic of #HOPE. The Bible says "hope deferred maketh the heart sick." What does that mean? The world oftentimes speaks of hope as wishful thinking, is this the same hope the bible teaches? Stay connected to learn more.

“When my father and mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up." Psalms 27:10

Hope February 16, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

I would like to pose a serious question today. Who is the person that you call upon when you're in trouble? For many years it was my dad. He was always there for me. Even when I remained in New York to attend College, and my parents moved to Florida; he came to New York when I needed him. I could call him when I needed an answer to a problem, and my dad would always try to solve it. Maybe it's not your dad, but its mom. Maybe it's not mom, but it's your aunt or uncle. Grandma always has the answers to your problems. You can always get words of encouragement from your grandfather. Your son takes care of all of your affairs. Your daughter handles your business matters. Your husband is your best friend and you depend on him to make you happy. Your wife is the one who keeps a smile on your face. My question is for how long? The Bible says “When my father and mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up." Psalms 27:10.

The Scripture says when because it's guaranteed that they will, and not only because of their death. There are going to be times in life when your parents simply cannot be there for you. There will be times when they simply do not have the means to assist you. There will be situations and pitfalls you’ll more than likely experience that they will not have an answer to. No one in this World is perfect and has all power and the wisdom to help us in any situation we face except Jesus Christ. The Apostle Paul says “but unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.” I Corinthians 1:24.

Unfortunately at some point the person you have been leaning on is going to fall short. The reason is that people are limited in what they're able to do. Sadly, as the Scripture says:" Our parents will leave us one day or vice versa if Jesus tarry’s. Never have anyone on a pedestal above the Lord. Your hope should only be in the Lord; because no obstacles can delay, detour, or detain Him! He holds all power in His Hands! "If I have made gold my hope, Or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;" Job 31:24. Only Jesus can give us that hope. What are your thoughts?
