"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9

April 5, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

Where does spiritual warfare begin? Does it begin in the heart? Does it begin when we enter this world? Maybe it begins once you give your life to Christ! The heart is the seat of our emotions, but it's not where spiritual warfare begins! “The Bible says “The Word have I hid in mine heart; that I might not sin against thee.” Psalms 119:11. The heart that we were born with is a stony heart, and the Word of God cannot penetrate it until we are willing to change its condition of it. The prophet Ezekiel records what God says to His people “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26

We must always be conscious of the fact that God will never invade our will. We have to invite Him into our hearts to perform a spiritual heart transplant! "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" Jeremiah 17:9. Only God can know a person's heart and the devil cannot! The mind is the rehearsal hall for all actions. The mind is where the battle begins. The mind is what needs to change for our lifestyles to be pleasing to God. The devil and his staff know this, and that's why we're always under attack there! If you want perfect peace, your mind has to stay on Jesus Christ. It takes prayer, praising God, and pondering on His Word to remain in His presence. This will increase our faith and we'll trust Him continually, praise God! ”Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.” Isaiah 26:3.
