Joy January 10, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

Some people believe that joy is only experienced when something good is happening. But the truth be told, it shows up often when you least expect it. Your circumstances may not appear to be delightful, but this is what makes joy so unique. The world simply doesn't understand it. Who wants to sit in a repeatedly collapsed chair without significant repair? Who wants to drive a known lemon vehicle on a long-distance trip? Who wants to lean on a wall that has given way in the past? How can a person have joy when things seem to be gloomy in their lives?

The world reacts to adversity differently because they're relying on their strength. Believers who are rooted and grounded in Jesus Christ know we can lean on Him. The Book of James says," Count it all joy when you fall into diverse temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patients." James 1:2-3. When you're falling, you need something or someone to lean on. God loves when we face things that we have no choice but to trust Him.

We will always face temptations in this life. You have no fear when you look at the test from God's perspective. Like knowing a subject before being tested, you look forward to showcasing what you know! Because you know Jesus, you already have the answer to all problems. That's why we can be patient while waiting on Him when we're being tested! The Lord is instructing us to do the waiting with the expectation that He will strengthen us through our trial. It's a joy to know that you will come out stronger after the dross is removed from your life! "But He knoweth the way that I take: When He have tried me, I shall come forth as gold." Job 23:10. Praise God! What are your thoughts?
