What Is the Difference Between Jealousy and Envy?

What is the difference between jealousy and envy? If there's a difference between the two; how are they different? Which one is the more lethal? How can you rid yourself of them? When a person is jealous of someone, the concern is that they'll take away something that you already have. It could be a friend, fiancee, or family member such as your spouse! What! It could be the attention of a person that you love, and their focus is now on something or somebody else. In layman's terms, it's in your hands and you're afraid of losing it. "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning". James 1:17.

Envy is more lethal; the reason why is that it's not in your hands at all. Envy desires something that belongs to someone else, and you'll do anything to possess it yourself. "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh;" Ezekiel 36:26. Jealousy is as cruel as the grave (Song of Solomon 8:6), and love envied not. The only thing that can eradicate envy and jealousy from your life is the Word hidden in your new heart and a new Spirit that is Holy. You will never be totally clean without the soap of His Word, and the water of the Holy Spirit. What are your thoughts?
