"The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it." Proverbs 10:22

Blessed November 1, 2022 By Dr. George Bing

I have heard people say" I am blessed and highly favored." The question I pose is what does that mean? Let's define what it means to be blessed. I'm sure you've received something valuable to you and others have said it was a blessing. I'm sure that you've had something good occur in your life, and you too said" it's a blessing. To be blessed means to be empowered to prosper. The new car is not the blessing. The new house is not the blessing. The nice rags are not the blessing either. The new spouse may not necessarily be the blessing. You are blessed because of it!

The blessing is the favor of God. It's what gives you the ability to obtain things you couldn't naturally achieve on your own. What the Lord does is put His super on your natural ability. The Bible says” Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17. Rather you acknowledge it or not: the good things and gifts we receive in this life and enjoy come from the Lord.

People that do not know Jesus as Lord have been blessed by Him, but the difference is that they do not acknowledge Him for different reasons. Ignorance is when you simply are not aware of something. You can have a large house, but it's not necessarily a home. You can have a spouse that appears to be the right one, but you may discover later that they're a nightmare to live with. When it is intended for you to have something God will supply the joy of having it as well. “The blessing of the Lord it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.” Proverbs 10:22.
