We often hear people say "We're blessed in the city, we're blessed in the field." Deuteronomy 28:3. What does it mean to be blessed like that? When you're blessed in the city, you have God's favor there. You can be saved, but it doesn't necessarily mean you have his favor. Being saved is so important because you are guaranteed heaven, but now what? Don't you want to enjoy the trip on the way to heaven? Have you ever been on a cruise? When you get on the ship, normally you're on your way to a place that you've never been before.
You usually do your homework before planning the trip and study about the country or Island that you will be journeying to. You look at pictures and envision it, but you haven't been there yet. On that ship, you're enjoying great food and making friends along the way. Now you're excited about reaching your destination, but not in a hurry to get there. Who wants to go on a cruise without their loved ones? You want your children with you. You want your parents with you if they’re still living on this side. You want your Grandparents and siblings with you as well.
Let’s not forget your friends and people whose paths you have been blessed to have crossed in this world. “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another, as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.” John 13:34. The more the merrier! The trip and food are already paid for! Jesus paid it all. Heaven is a place we can only envision presently. We are excited about going there, but we're enjoying the trip! That’s what abundant life is. It begins right here on earth the day that you give Jesus Christ your heart. We're blessed in the city, field, and wherever we go. “Jesus came that we might have life and that we might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10. What are your thoughts?
