Watch and Pray, That Ye Enter Not Into Temptation

Have you ever found yourself regretting a commitment you made to someone?

For the entire month of August Powerzone ministries will be diving deep into the topic of temptation. What exactly is temptation? We'll be exploring what it means and what the Bible has to say about it all Month long!

"For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him" (II Corinthians 5:21).

Today, we will conclude our exploration of the temptation not to keep your word. In my opinion, this is a significant topic that often goes unaddressed. Have you ever found yourself regretting a commitment you made to someone? I believe that if we were to honestly reflect on this, we would all admit to experiencing such moments. Even our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ had a tussle with that at one time in His life. The Bible says “ And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt..” (Matthew 26:39).

This incident took place in the Garden of Gethsemane, where our Lord was preparing to pray before His crucifixion for the redemption of our sins. He was fully aware that He was about to bear the weight of the world's sins, including yours and mine, which would temporarily separate Him from the Father until His death and resurrection. The Apostle Paul affirms this in his writings, stating, "For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him" (II Corinthians 5:21). Despite knowing that He would bear the punishment for the terrible sins committed by humanity, Jesus remained faithful to His promise to the Father.

Have you ever made a promise to a child, assuring them that you would attend their game, play, concert, or any other significant event? Just the mere thought of witnessing the disappointment on their faces should be enough to motivate us to honor our commitments. Now, imagine the face of God, who is fully aware of and observes every promise we make to others. As it is written in Matthew 26:41, "Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." What are your thoughts?
