In today's Daily devotional, we will be discussing the topic of waking up to manipulation. Have you ever experienced manipulation? If you haven't encountered it yet, continue living, but be prepared to recognize it if it arises in your life. Manipulation can be defined as the act of exerting a harmful influence over someone through skillful and controlling tactics. It is important to be aware of this behavior and its potential impact on our lives.

A person's mental, emotional, and vulnerable aspects are often targeted when they are susceptible to being exploited. One of the spiritual gifts bestowed by the Holy Spirit is discernment, and every believer must pray for a strong sense of discernment. The Apostle Paul lists the diverse gifts of the Holy Spirit and states in 1 Corinthians 12:10, “to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits.”

The ability to discern spirits is indeed accessible to every believer in Jesus Christ. As we grow and mature in our relationship with the Lord, we develop a greater desire to become more like Him. The Apostle Paul expresses this longing in Philippians 3:10, stating, “that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.”

When you have experienced hurt and have been taken advantage of, especially by those who claim to know the Lord, it can intensify your desire to pray for strong discernment of spirits. I can understand this firsthand because I have also been used by people whom I believed to be trustworthy, and through prayer, I received the discernment I sought. It is important to note that the Bible highlights the failure to seek strong discernment as a reason for rebuke. Hebrews 5:13-14, states, “For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.” What are your thoughts?
