Today, our Daily Devotional will focus on awakening to the spiritual truth of our beliefs. Have you ever found yourself in a vulnerable position? This state of mind is often brought about by trials, tribulations, or traumatic experiences that life tends to present. In such moments, our guard is down, even if life has taught us to protect ourselves from being hurt by others. The Bible reminds us to "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour" (1 Peter 5:8).

The enemy is constantly on the lookout for prey, especially when we are seeking something that we believe will benefit us. He often presents enticing but deadly temptations. He knows the perfect timing to present these things, as he carefully observes us during vulnerable moments when we may be spiritually unaware. It is important to note that cults are comprised of individuals who lack knowledge of the Word of God. Someone posing as a spiritual leader or minister may use just enough scripture to draw individuals into their organization.

They will teach you scripture but completely misinterpret the true meaning of biblical passages. A prime example of this is when Jesus was informed that His mother and siblings were waiting outside while He was teaching. The passage in question is found in Matthew 12:47-49: "Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!."

Indeed, without proper exegesis of scripture, it is easy to misinterpret the intended message of the Lord and the reasons behind His statements. Tomorrow, we will delve further into this topic, God willing. As stated in II Timothy 2:15, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." What are your thoughts?
