"Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven." Matthew 18:21-22

Have you ever heard a person say that “I forgive you, but I will never forget what you did? The truth be told is that when a person has violated your trust you will not automatically erase it from your mind. When asked if you remember a person’s offense towards you it’s been said that “DON’T EVEN REMEMBER IT!’ That very well may be true because I can truly say that I have experienced offenses towards me and when asked I didn’t remember specifically what it was when inquired about it at a later time after the incident. “Finally, brethren, whatsoever thing are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of a good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8.

Truth be told I believe that if it's a significant offense it will be stored in your memory bank and it is no different if you’re a Believer in Jesus Christ or not! So how can you FORGET an offense that was indeed a serious one that either affected you directly or indirectly because it was against someone dear to you? The first thing that we all must do is to forgive anyone for ANY OFFENSE THAT WAS Committed against us.

The Bible says that when Peter asked Jesus Christ “How oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times? Jesus saith unto him. I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.” Matthew 18:21-22. In other words, it is an unlimited amount of times to forgive a person and we should as often as is needed! How you forget the offense is not treating a person as if they just offended you.

In layman’s terms, we treat them according to what the Golden rule says” And as you would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.” Luke 6:31. You would not feel forgiven if a person continued to treat you like you offended them, and now they’ll feeling your wrath. Sadly some people choose to hold on to unforgiveness and sadly this is hindering their prayers from being heard by God. “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” Psalms 66:18 Jesus enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.” Matthew 5:44. That’s Love. What are your thoughts?
