Turning Your Back on God

Why should you return back when it's just as far going back as it is going forward?

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

Start this new year off right by exploring the word of God. For the entire month of January, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on the topic of #JOY. "He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in Him." Psalms 66:6

Joy January 25, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

Ever come up against an obstacle that made you feel like you were foolish for trusting God? Life just wasn't going the way you desired it to go, and so you decided to make a radical change. Now you're going to Church and you're developing a relationship with the Lord. The problem now is He's leading you in a direction that is bringing you more opposition than where you just came from! What do you do? The thought comes: maybe you should return back to where you came from. Getting high was good; at least it felt good while you were doing it. How about going back to clubbing? You've lost friends, and familiar associates are also going the Lord's way anyway! This way you can get reacquainted with some folks! After all, you don't really have a life now because of your new commitment to Christ!

The Bible says “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy; I am come that they might have life. And that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10. The Devil is the king of deception! The previous scenarios listed are all deceptive tales from Satan. Remember that deception is presenting facts in a way that you're led to drawing a wrong conclusion! Yes, you're going to face obstacles, but God will bring you out! Getting high may feel good, but the objective is for drugs and alcohol to destroy you! Why should you return back when it's just as far going back as it is going forward? God can turn your sea into dry land.

In other words, He can take what appeared impossible for you to go through possible, and miraculously with ease. He will have you "treading on serpents and scorpion and over all the power of the enemy." Luke 10:19. We will certainly rejoice in Him then! "He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in Him." Psalms 66:6. Praise God that’s joy! What are your thoughts?
