This Valentine’s Day Don't Lose Hope

Wait on the LORD: Be of good courage

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of February, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on the topic of #HOPE. The Bible says "hope deferred maketh the heart sick." What does that mean? The world oftentimes speaks of hope as wishful thinking, is this the same hope the bible teaches? Stay connected to learn more.

“Wait on the LORD: Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Psalm 27:14

Hope February 14, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

Viktor Frankl is a well-known neurologist and psychiatrist. But he is mostly known for being a holocaust survivor. The late great Chuck Colsen told the story that he heard during an interview with Viktor Frankl. It was about an occurrence that unfolded in a Concentration camp where he was being held captive. While working in a Nazi Concentration Camp, the captured Jewish people were on assignment to manufacture weaponry for the Germans. One day some of their allies came over on a bombing raid and the machinery that the Jews were using to produce the weapons was destroyed. The Jews were advised to dig a huge hole. After they dug the hole they were instructed to go to bed. They all began to wonder: why were they told to dig a hole?

It weighed on all of them all night long! Have you ever been instructed to do something that made no sense? The following morning the Jews were advised to fill that hole back up. This process continued day after day, and one by one many of the Jews began to lose hearts and die. As Viktor Frankl said: if a person feels that they're not working to produce something, they lose heart because they feel hopeless. Life can be that way. You can feel like a vehicle on a slippery slope; just spinning your wheels. Today is Valentine’s Day and some people may not have a special friend they would like to share quiet time with presently. Believe it or not, that could be good at this present time.

Some people are so anxious to have a mate that they will develop a relationship with a person who will have them doing things that they know makes no sense. After a while, just like those poor Jews in those Concentration camps, they’ll lose heart! It’s so good to “Wait on the LORD: Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” Psalm 27:14. There is hope in Christ as proven by Viktor Frankl's life. "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Jeremiah 29:11. Praise God! What are your thoughts?
