“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!” Psalms 133:1

Blessed November 24, 2022 By Dr. George Bing

Thanksgiving is a Day that is set aside to celebrate and appreciate everything and everyone that God has blessed us to have in our lives. What should bother each of us is why we don't see more advertising of it on television and in stores. We're already advertising Christmas because people are more prone to spend money on others during that Holiday season. That's what it's become, a season to get people in debt. Thanksgiving is totally about sharing with who you love and expressing it. Family, friends, food, fun, fellowship, and please don't forget football! “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity!” Psalms 133:1.

That’s what Thanksgiving creates. Getting together with others who we love; sharing and enjoying one another over a good meal! Above all, it is about blessing the Lord for His goodness to all of us. Regardless of what's going on in your life presently; there's always something to give God thanks for. It was thirty-four years ago on Thanksgiving night. Every thirty-four years the event that occurred on that day falls on the very same day of the week it did during that time. In this case, it was Thursday, November 24th, 1988, and that was the evening that I asked the love of my life to marry me.

I had to get off of work in the Bronx at 11 pm and pick her up in Queens to get her to the most romantic place in Brooklyn before midnight to pull it off. Looking at the skyline in N.Y City, the Twin Towers were still standing tall at that time as we could see them from an elevated area on the Brooklyn side of the FDR Drive. I wanted her to know how much I loved her and was thankful to God for giving her to me. I got down on my knees in my Police uniform and yes I asked her to marry me at 11:57 pm! You know there was a joyous result because I probably wouldn’t be sharing this. She said yes! Bless the Lord oh my soul: And all that is within me, bless his holy name. Psalms 103:1. What are your thoughts?
