The Word is What Gives Us Spiritual Life

Study to shew thyself approved unto God

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of May, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will explore the most vital subject to discuss, and that is The Word! The Bible says "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword," How does that apply to our daily walk?

The Bible says “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

In yesterday’s Daily Devotional, we spoke about the most important reason that we should know the Word of God, and use it whenever it is necessary. The reason is that God the Father prepared His Son a body of flesh so that Jesus would be able to identify with all of our temptations in this life. The Bible says “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14.

When Jesus was in the wilderness after fasting (No food) for 40 days and nights; the devil tempted Him with food before it was time for Jesus to break His fast. "And when the tempter came to Him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command these stones be made bread.” Matthew 4:3. Now the devil knew who Jesus was because remember he was in heaven before being cast out of it. Therefore he knew that Jesus had the power to turn the stone into bread, and this is where the temptation of the flesh begins. Jesus response was to go to the Word and Jesus did that immediately.

Jesus “answered and said, it is written, Man should not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4. Jesus here quotes a passage written in Deuteronomy 8:3. What Jesus was saying is that the Word is what gives us Spiritual life which is actually primary! So if the Living Word went to the written Word when He was tempted in the flesh; we too need to know what the Word says when our flesh is tempted. Amen. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of truth.” II Timothy 2:15. What are your thoughts?
