Today we begin our new Daily Devotional topic that I believe is perhaps the most vital subject to discuss, and that is the Word. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.” II Corinthians 10:4. We as Christians are wearing the Armour of protection as we battle the forces of darkness every day! Just like in any sport that you take part in; you still have to score to get the victory! My wife and I are celebrating 34 years of Holy Matrimony on this very day May 1. We wanted to do things in an order that God would be pleased with, and that is; no sexual intercourse before marriage! The Word says that "marriage in honorable in all and the bed undefiled!" Hebrews13:4.
When you're attracted to someone of the opposite sex; the enemy can make it quite convenient to do things his way. But the world is not Burger King and you can't have it your way, but if you're a King's kid you want it The King's way! The Bible says “Abstain for all appearance of evil.” In other words, you should do everything within your power to avoid anything that will potentially cause you to sin. Sin is missing the mark and as a Believer you always want to hit the bullseye of God’s Word!
Yes, my now wife and I were tempted at times throughout our engagement period, but we knew at times that it was best that I leave or take my then fiancée, back home to her apartment. The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God, and we are on the offense of getting victory; when we allow the Lord to keep us during the most tempting periods of our lives, praise God! When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD will lift up a standard against him.” Isaiah 59:19. Hallelujah! ”What are your thoughts?
