The Temptation to to Doubt God's Control Over Our Lives

But what exactly do we mean by "greater good"?

For the entire month of August Powerzone ministries will be diving deep into the topic of temptation. What exactly is temptation? We'll be exploring what it means and what the Bible has to say about it all Month long!

He is fully aware of everything that happens in this world.

Today, we will explore the temptation to doubt God's control over our lives, even when we have entrusted Him to dwell in our hearts. It is important to understand that God is sovereign, meaning He possesses all power and authority. He is fully aware of everything that happens in this world, and He either causes certain events, such as the weather or allows them to occur. When something unfavorable takes place, God permits it if He believes it will ultimately serve a greater purpose. But what exactly do we mean by "greater good"? God's omniscience means that He is all-knowing, and if He knows that even a significant tragedy will ultimately strengthen our relationship with Him, He may allow it to happen. In other words, He permits certain negative events because He knows they will ultimately work out for our good in the long run.

Recently, I embarked on a plane journey to my hometown of New York City. I boarded the plane with a sense of anticipation and excitement. The reason I had such high expectations is that I entrusted my life to someone I have never seen before. The airline had a good reputation, and I have flown numerous times in the past, always arriving safely at my destination. Even during previous flights when there was turbulence, turmoil, and the tempest was raging, I still maintained my trust that I was in capable hands.

During those challenging moments, there would be a comforting voice over the intercom assuring me that everything would be alright. Similarly, in our journey with Jesus, we may not physically see Him or be in control, but we can trust that He has complete authority over our lives. Even when our lives are filled with turmoil, turbulence, and storms, the "still small voice" of the Holy Spirit provides reassurance that everything will be alright. I experienced this when my mother passed away and went to be with Jesus, and I can testify that by the grace of God, everything has indeed been alright. The Holy Spirit is the One who speaks to believers and provides comfort. As Jesus promised in John 14:16, "And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever." What are your thoughts?
