The Temptation to Seek Recognition

Remember that the Lord knows everything we say and do.

For the entire month of August Powerzone ministries will be diving deep into the topic of temptation. What exactly is temptation? We'll be exploring what it means and what the Bible has to say about it all Month long!

As stated in Ephesians 5:25, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;"

Yesterday, we began discussing the temptation to feel unappreciated or unrecognized for our actions in life. In our previous Daily devotional, we concluded by highlighting the significance of acknowledging the contributions of others in society for the betterment of all. It is a reality that not everyone will fully recognize or appreciate everything we do in life. Some people may be aware of the majority of our efforts to enhance the lives of others, yet they may not necessarily acknowledge our achievements.

There are tasks and responsibilities that we undertake in various aspects of our lives, such as at home, work, and even within the Church, which may not be part of our official job description but can easily go unnoticed by others. During these moments, our focus can easily shift from what should be our primary focus. The Apostle Paul reminds us in Philippians 3:14, "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." This should be our aim as well, as knowing Him will empower us to live a life that is pleasing to Him and accomplish the tasks set before us. Remember that the Lord knows everything we say and do. As King Solomon wisely wrote in Proverbs 15:3, "The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good."

It is comforting to know that God sees everything and will reward us in due time for our efforts in advancing His Kingdom. This is why we should not be tempted to seek recognition from others for our work. Regardless of how little praise we get, we should remember that we are doing it for the Almighty God, not the praise of man. As the Apostle Paul advises in Colossians 3:23, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men." What are your thoughts?
