The Temptation to Remain Silent

Some people are in our lives for a reason, some for a season, and some for a lifetime!

For the entire month of August Powerzone ministries will be diving deep into the topic of temptation. What exactly is temptation? We'll be exploring what it means and what the Bible has to say about it all Month long!

Proverbs 18:24 wisely states, “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”

Throughout our journey in life, different people cross our paths, we encounter a diverse array of individuals. Among them, we make conscious decisions to forge friendships, while others remain mere acquaintances, and a few even become adversaries. Surprisingly, not all family members find themselves on our cherished list of confidants. Some people are in our lives for a reason, some for a season, and some for a lifetime. Oftentimes it is beyond our control, as some people venture down divergent paths, never to intersect with ours again. Proverbs 18:24 wisely states, “A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.”

There are individuals who, once their paths have intertwined with ours, find ourselves secretly hoping they never cross our path again. It seems that God has a peculiar way of orchestrating their return into our lives more often than not. Have you ever experienced that moment when someone enters a room, and an inexplicable unease settles within you? The song "Should I Stay or Should I Go" starts playing in our heads.

The temptation to remain silent or avoid their presence becomes increasingly tempting. The gentle whisper to show love and compassion becomes convenient to ignore. Satan and his minions thrive when we hold grudges, as they tarnish our witness and hinder our ministry. But they hurt you, right? It is important to remember that hurting people often hurt others, and if they intentionally caused us pain, they are in desperate need of deliverance from the grip of hatred.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 5:46 "For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?" In essence, we are no different from those who do not profess faith if we react to others in the same manner they treat us. Our light is literally under a bushel when we display a lack of love for others. Instead, why not allow the Holy Spirit to work through us, planting and nurturing seeds of love in their hearts? As stated in 1 Corinthians 3:6, "I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase." What are your thoughts?
