The Temptation to End One's Life Prematurely

Dedicate today's devotional to a special mother figure in my life.

For the entire month of August Powerzone ministries will be diving deep into the topic of temptation. What exactly is temptation? We'll be exploring what it means and what the Bible has to say about it all Month long!

The Bible says, "For He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Hebrews 13:5).

Today's daily devotional focuses on the sensitive topic of the temptation to end one's life prematurely. This subject may make some people feel uncomfortable, as many of us have known someone who has taken their own life or has had such thoughts ourselves. In honor of this topic, I would like to dedicate today's devotional to a special mother figure in my life. One of these remarkable women is Mother Bernice Green, who was born on this very day.

I also have another living Godmother, Jill Jones, who celebrated her birthday earlier this month. However, I would like to take a moment to remember Elizabeth Powell from New York City, who we lost about twenty years ago. I don't often speak about my dear Mother Powell, but she played a significant role in giving me life.

Now, let me share a scenario that the Woman of God had to face at one point. There was a young man who found himself in a desperate situation, contemplating suicide. It seemed that he had reached a point where if the Woman of God didn't answer her phone at that very moment, he would go through with his plan. Have you ever experienced a similar feeling? When life's burdens become overwhelming, and it feels like the walls are closing in on you? Sometimes, people may not be able to help us, but we can always turn to God, who is always on the throne and seek His assistance with boldness.

The Bible says, "For He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Hebrews 13:5). The enemy is always on his job, trying to deceive us by presenting facts in a way that leads us to draw wrong conclusions. It is a fact that someone may have hurt you deeply, that someone believed a lie about you, or that someone close to you didn't seem to care as much as you did about them. However, did Mother Powell answer the phone that day because the clock was ticking? We will find out the answer in tomorrow's conclusion. In the meantime, let us remember the promise in Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." What are your thoughts?
