The Temptation to Cease Serving Others

Individuals who are not actively serving the Lord are serving

For the entire month of August Powerzone ministries will be diving deep into the topic of temptation. What exactly is temptation? We'll be exploring what it means and what the Bible has to say about it all Month long!

"For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day" (II Timothy 1:12).

When faced with personal hardships, it can be incredibly tempting to cease serving others. In this world, everyone is devoted to a trinity of sorts. For believers in Jesus Christ, they likely serve The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. On the contrary, many others tend to serve themselves (me, myself, and I). Essentially, individuals who are not actively serving the Lord are serving their desires and prioritizing their interests. They operate in the inherent selfishness we are born with, placing themselves before others. However, the Scripture clearly outlines the correct approach. The Bible instructs us to "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves." (Philippians 2:3).

The love of Christ compels you to minister and pray for others even on your birthday, despite facing personal challenges and possibly being unwell yourself. Whenever someone is hospitalized and in need, you compel yourself to be by their bedside and encourage them. If someone needs food but lacks transportation to a food bank, you deliver the much-needed provisions to their home.

Even while imprisoned and facing imminent execution, the Apostle Paul took the time to uplift his young protégé, Timothy, urging him to remain steadfast in his commitment to God and His Word. Despite his own suffering for doing good, Paul felt compelled to encourage others, including all those who study God's Word. In his letter, Paul declares, "For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day" (II Timothy 1:12). Yes He is! What are your thoughts?
