The Power to Overcome Temptations of the Flesh

But the Holy Spirit is the greatest heavyweight sharer!

For the entire month of August Powerzone ministries will be diving deep into the topic of temptation. What exactly is temptation? We'll be exploring what it means and what the Bible has to say about it all Month long!

"This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel, saying, 'Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts" (Zechariah 4:6)

The Holy Spirit comes with force, but He's more than that! He's a person, and He is more powerful than anything, anyone, and anywhere. He truly is the greatest of all time! I love Ali, and I believe that he was the greatest boxer. But the Holy Spirit is the greatest heavyweight sharer! "Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you." - 1 Corinthians 3:6. When you are tempted to believe that the power in the world is the greatest power, you will begin to justify ungodly behavior and unrighteousness.

Do you realize that you won't find the word "backsliding" anywhere in the New Testament? The term "backslide" is not used there at all. "Backslidden" was a spiritual term specifically used for Israel in the Old Testament because they lacked inner strength. The Apostle Paul states, "That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us" (2 Timothy 1:14). The "good thing" referred to by the Apostle is the Word of God. The Holy Ghost draws strength from the Word of God and is nourished by it. This is where you will find the power to overcome the temptations of the flesh.

If you have been born again, you possess supernatural enablement on the inside! The Bible refers to it as "dunamis," which means miraculous power. Upon being baptized with the Holy Spirit, He takes up residence within you. Nevertheless, just like a car needs gas when it runs out, we need to be constantly refilled throughout our lives. Life has a way of depleting our strength. We must exercise our faith by relying on His ability rather than our own. This gives us strength to overcome any challenges we face in life. Praise God! "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel, saying, 'Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts" (Zechariah 4:6). What are your thoughts?
