There is only one unpardonable sin, which is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. God hates sin but loves the sinner. If He didn't love us, none of us would be saved because He wouldn't have sent Jesus to die for us. The Bible says, "When they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were they thankful, but they were vain in their imaginations, and their foolish hearts were darkened" (Romans 1:21). Notice that the Apostle Paul says "foolish," which speaks of non-belief. We like to box this passage, but it's speaking about people whom the enemy has a stronghold on. The Apostle Paul proceeds to say that "God gave them over to a reprobate mind to do those things which are not convenient."

A reprobate mind is a state of mind that is disapproved or rejected by God. When God allows a person to believe what they want, they have essentially aligned themselves with the devil's army. The devil may have been a co-pilot for a while, but when a person disrespects the Holy Spirit and His power in their life, the devil takes control of the spiritual cockpit of the unbelievers' minds. Spatial disparity occurs when a pilot's vision is impaired, often while traveling through clouds in a storm. The pilot cannot determine if the plane is upside-down or right-side up and must rely on the instruments for guidance.

A person who has blasphemed the Holy Spirit relies on their own judgment and what they believe is right. May the Lord have mercy on their souls. "Wherefore I say unto you, all manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men" (Matthew 12:31). It is understandable to feel fear when encountering someone with this mindset. However, there is still hope for anyone who places their complete trust in the Lord. "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love" (1 John 4:18). What are your thoughts?
