Have you ever tried running the bases with any shoes on besides cleats? That includes sneakers! You were slipping and sliding away just like the songwriter said! On the football field, it's the same concept. The tough yards; the hard yards: You can't dig in and get good support down in the trenches wearing sneakers! You need cleats! Would you go hunting without wearing timberland boots, or something similar for the protection you need in the wild? Of course not! There are snakes and nocturnal creatures such as wild cats, raccoons, wolves, and rodents that roam the earth during the night, and the right footing is absolutely necessary.
Knowing that we are living in a dark world should prompt us to be prepared to conquer any foe or trap that the enemy and his minions will have set and having on the proper shoes is a great part of your arsenal to be equipped with in the natural. In the same way; we must be prepared spiritually with the very best footing possible. You have to be prepared and ready to share the Gospel that brings peace, but it also has to be protected! What! Yes, the enemy and his minions will consistently attempt to take your peace. That's what thieves do, they steal! Peace is what separates your character from those in the world. The Bible says “Blessed are the peace makers: for they shall be called the children of God.” Matthew 5:9.
Somebody may say something to offend you, but it's only a ploy to get you to operate out of the very Gospel of Peace that you've been witnessing about. The Gospel is Good News indeed and as a Believer carries it we promote, practice, and pursue peace! The world is watching and the greatest witness that you can be as a Christian is not what you say, but what you live, praise God!” Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it.” Psalms 34:14.
