Yesterday we shared a true story about a gentleman who had traveled from Florida to Dallas and was stopped in Louisiana and issued a citation for speeding. The young man had prayed before going on the trip, and again immediately after seeing the lights flashing in his rearview mirror. After receiving the citation, and getting further instructions from the trooper; he tells the trooper to have a nice day. Now back in his vehicle, the gentleman sees the trooper walking toward him again. Was he looking to issue another citation? His shield apparently didn't carry much weight with this trooper. After all, he was a retired law enforcement officer from New York who now resided in Florida. He was driving a rental registered in Nevada. He was on his way to Dallas and had no clout there in Louisiana. What else could happen? Who could help? What an obviously impossible scenario to expect anything good to come out of it.
He lets the window down and the trooper asks him: How long did you work on the job? The man told him how many years he had served in New York. He then asked the man to let him have the citation back. The trooper takes it and says: have a nice day. Was it the shield that got him out of the ticket? God wanted this young man to see that it was Him that deserved the glory. The man had hope that he would get out of the ticket, but he was relying on his authority and recognizance. God wouldn't have gotten the glory if it was that simple. Mercy is you not getting what you deserve! " The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear Him, in those that hope in His mercy!" Psalms 147:11. What are your thoughts?
