In today's Daily Devotional, we will reflect on the attitude of believers when we wake up. Jesus Christ was verily man and verily God. What this means is that Jesus in His humanity was truly or fully a man with a body of flesh. In John 1:14 says, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." Alongside His human nature, Jesus also possessed a divine nature.

The Apostle Paul, Philippians 2:6-7, says, "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men." This passage emphasizes that Jesus willingly chose to empty Himself of His divinity, including His power and authority in Heaven, and took on the role of a servant without force. It demonstrates His humility and selflessness in fulfilling God's plan for salvation.

Jesus never sinned or never cheated by resorting to using His divine power to provide for Himself or avoid discomfort. When Jesus woke up, there was no mention of Him having a wrong disposition. Some people have to have their coffee first before they can function. Did they have coffee in the Biblical days? “I woke up on the wrong side of the bed!” The key to it is that you wake up. It wasn’t the alarm clock or another person that woke you up either.

The Lord is the one who grants us life, and when we awaken from our sleep, our first response should be to offer Him praise. This act of gratitude should propel us into a new day, where we can continue to demonstrate our thankfulness to the Lord for His ongoing work in and through us as believers. When Jesus is at the forefront of our minds, we are inspired to treat one another with kindness, just as He did throughout His earthly ministry. As Hebrews 13:8 reminds us, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." What are your thoughts?
