In this special edition daily devotional, we invite you to embrace the spirit of Thanksgiving and cultivate a heart overflowing with gratitude towards the Lord.

“But a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday. When it is past, and as a watch in the night” (Psalm 90:4).

In today’s Daily devotional, we will be discussing thanksgiving for restoration. Have you ever lost something of value to you? Did it appear that you could never replace the time that you lost and that’s even if you were to retrieve it? Perhaps it was a friendship that a disagreement occurred and you refused to speak to one another for years? Maybe there was an offense that took place in the relationship or your trust was violated.

In a marriage, couples may find themselves in conflict, leading to a period of time when they are unable to enjoy good moments together. Similarly, individuals with incarcerated loved ones may feel as though precious years have been lost, leaving them wondering if those years can ever be regained. The Apostle Peter offers reassurance in II Peter 3:8, “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”

In other words, there is no difference to God in a day or a thousand years; as they are both the same. God does not operate in time, but He operates in eternity. This is the same God who stopped the waters of the Red Sea on both sides as His chosen people Israel were escaping from their enemies the Egyptians who had held them in captivity. This is the same God who made the sun stand still and did not go down for an entire day until His chosen people had conquered their enemy. The Bible says “And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, Until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies” (Joshua 10:13).

But can God restore the years lost in the circumstances you are facing every day? After all, these are Old Testament events. The conclusion on this tomorrow, Lord’s will. “But a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday. When it is past, and as a watch in the night” (Psalm 90:4). What are your thoughts?
