1 Corinthians 1:27 that “God have chosen the foolish things to confound the wise.”

In today's Daily Devotional, we will be discussing the importance of being thankful for the ability to see and hear what the Lord is communicating to us. Have you ever felt frustrated when people are speaking a language you don't understand? Others are able to engage in conversation and enjoy fellowship, while you struggle to comprehend what is being said. This has personally motivated me to make an effort to understand different languages to some extent. The good news is that God has a language that anyone who desires to learn can understand.

When the Lord was here in the flesh, He taught His disciples using parables. Parables are everyday life illustrations that simplify spiritual truths. Metaphors, on the other hand, are familiar objects or concepts used to symbolize and understand spiritual truths. Jesus employed these teaching methods to ensure that His disciples could grasp the messages He conveyed.

However, those who chose to remain spiritually blind and deaf, such as the Pharisees and religious leaders, could not comprehend His teachings. The Holy Spirit, who is the promised Comforter, is the one who teaches even those who are unlearned in the Word of God. Jesus affirms this by saying, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you” (John 14:26).

It is indeed a joy to have a deep understanding of God's Holy Word, and while education is valuable, it is only through the Holy Spirit that we can truly be enlightened. If we have the Holy Spirit, we can personally relate to the joy and gratitude that comes from this understanding. The Apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 1:27 that “God have chosen the foolish things to confound the wise.”

God desires the world to be amazed that believers like us can truly see and hear what the Lord is saying to us through His Word. In the parable of the sower, as Jesus was teaching His disciples about their understanding, He declares, "But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear" (Matthew 13:16). What are your thoughts?
