Psalm 19:1, "The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament sheweth his handywork.”

In today's Daily devotional, we will be exploring the concept of being thankful for nature. Have you ever encountered individuals who have been in hibernation for a considerable period? It is fascinating to witness their overwhelming excitement upon experiencing fresh air again. They become acutely aware of the beauty of trees, flowers, the melodious chirping of birds, and the warm sun shining on their faces, which brings forth a wide smile. In the Bible, Genesis 2:9 states, "And out of the ground, the LORD God caused to grow every tree that is pleasing to the eye and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil."

Trees, for instance, are often overlooked treasures of nature. We tend to take for granted the furniture that brings us comfort and convenience, such as beds, chairs, tables, desks, dressers, and even closets, all crafted from wood. Even luxurious flooring options often rely on the beauty and durability of wood. Musical instruments, as we discussed earlier, including guitars, keyboards, and even drumsticks, owe their existence to this natural resource. And let's not forget the delightful flavor that wood chips add to our barbecues, enhancing our culinary experiences.

Additionally, trees play a crucial role in regulating temperatures, particularly in regions like Florida where we have recently endured scorching summers. It is believed that the excessive cutting down of trees for construction purposes has contributed to this unprecedented heat. It is worth noting that nature itself praises and expresses gratitude to the Lord. As stated in Psalm 69:34, "Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and everything that moves in them."

Indeed, even the waters that surround us when we visit beaches across the globe join in praising the Lord. Jesus, in speaking about receiving praise, stated in Luke 19:40, “I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.” It is a powerful reminder that even the stones themselves would offer praise to Him if we fail to do so. The psalmist, the revered King David of Israel, beautifully expressed in Psalm 19:1, "The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament sheweth his handywork.” What are your thoughts?
