"Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Proverbs 18:21

Love December 17, 2022 By Dr. George Bing

Who in this world does not like to be complimented? Words of Affirmation are designed to build a person up. Most people that are natural encouragers are usually speaking their primary language. Unfortunately, this is a language that a lot of people have to study and learn how to speak! Everyone regardless of their language wants and needs to be appreciated for what they contribute positively in life to others. When your child does well in school it's good practice to praise them for it. If your wife cooks a nice meal or perhaps she looks exceptionally beautiful; it's apropos to remind her of how beautiful she is. If your husband accomplished something special or gets a promotion; it presents the opportunity to encourage him. The Bible says "A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: And a word spoken in due season, how good is it!” Proverbs 15:23.

What a blessing it is to someone when at a time that they may need to be encouraged; you are the vessel the Lord uses to bring that joy to them! Some people don't know how to encourage others because they weren't affirmed during their childhood. The most pleasurable people to be around are people who encourage others. They speak life into other people's lives by building them up. We should always be conscious of not only what we say, but also the tone in which we say it. Even saying the right things with the right intentions can be an offense when it is not presented in the proper tone. Remember, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Proverbs 18:21. What are your thoughts?
