Should You Still Honor a Person in Authority After They Miss Used You?

Some people have a problem receiving instructions from others in authority. The reason being is mainly because of past hurts. You might've honored someone in the past, and they misused, misled, or misunderstood you. “Make no friendship with an angry man; And with a furious man thou shalt not go: Lest thou learn his ways, And get a snare to thy soul.” Prov. 22:24-25.


The person is what you thought was a spiritual leader was controlling your personal life and this is abusing their authority. Everyone who has experienced this type of abuse and has been fortunate to escape the grasp of this kind of bondage has been scarred by it. The longer that you remain in a scenario such as this; the more difficult it is to walk away. The Lord is more than capable of healing the scars and residue caused by this kind of perverted exploitation. Hallelujah! It's important to realize that everyone is not an abuser or manipulative.


Every person in authority doesn't have a hidden agenda. Every person in authority is not going to let you down. There are some good leaders in the world. Believe it or not, you probably honor more people than you realize you do. A boss that may not recognize your hard work you honor. It's obvious because you still are employed there. You honor them by how you greet them. "Good morning Mr. Smith." If he gives you an assignment you respectfully do it. Even if it's a problem he wouldn't necessarily know it.” You do not do it because you like Mr. Smith. You do it because you respect the authoritative position that Mr. Smith presently holds. That's honor and even if it's not recognized by him; we will be rewarded by the Lord. ”not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; Ephesians 6:6.
