Should we honor the Lord before anyone else?

This month is Pastor's Appreciation and Clergy Appreciation Month in the United States. The call to honor our leaders goes back to the time of the Apostle Paul. Do we still need to honor our leaders today?

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of October, the Powerzone Ministries daily devotionals will focus on the topic of #honor. What does it mean and how can you show honor to the people in your life? Stay connected to learn more.

”Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.” I Peter 2:1

Honor: October 1

October is my favorite month of the year. Raised in New York City the weather was always nice in October as it is in Florida. Not too hot but throughout the month just fine. Being a big sports fan I know that October is also the only month that all major sports are played. For that alone, it's easy to honor the one that made it possible to enjoy the weather and the sports He created!

“For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him and for Him: and He is before all things, and by Him all things consist.” Colossians 1:16-17. To Honour, someone means to prize, revere, or value. To hold or esteem to a high degree.

October is also Pastors Appreciation month and I believe that it's very important to honor your Pastors. It is also important to honor your parents more so than any leader. As a matter of principle, we should give honor to all to whom honor is due! ”Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.” I Peter 2:17

Yes, our parents are to be honored. Yes, our leaders such as Pastors, Principals, Political officials, and others deserve to be honored. But nothing or anybody should be honored before God. That's why in a Church Service; we honor the Lord before we give honor to anyone else!
