Should Christians Claim Bankruptcy?

Hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of February, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on the topic of #HOPE. The Bible says "hope deferred maketh the heart sick." What does that mean? The world oftentimes speaks of hope as wishful thinking, is this the same hope the bible teaches? Stay connected to learn more.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:13.

Hope February 23, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

Have you ever had a bill that you knew barring a miracle, it would take you perhaps a lifetime to pay? There was no amount of hours you could work to pay it off right away. If you got another job, it would cut into it some, but keeping it real, would still be a burden to you. The reason is because of the tremendous balance owed on it! This is a controversial subject when it comes to debt. Some people and including some Christians; don't believe that it's wrong to claim bankruptcy when you have a bill that appears to be impossible to pay off.

I have scripture for you. If you owe someone, unless the person who you owe agrees to settle for less; don't you still owe them if you just simply decided not to pay them back? Owe no man anything but to love.” The Bible says" Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.” Romans 13:8. I know someone very dear to me who got some wise advice from another believer. They waited on God with hope and without speaking negatively. There was no complaining or any verbal outburst of frustration expressed.

There was no opinion on how or when God should answer their request. They never spoke phrases like the following examples: What's taking so long or I don't know if this is going to work? Why me, I can't pay this? These phrases were not uttered. They just received notification that they had a zero balance! We're talking about over $5000.00. When you truly have hope in the Lord, you'll wait and don't debate. "It is good for a man to both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD." Lamentations 3:26. What are your thoughts?
