Holy Spirit, March 1, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

It is customary to hear people claiming salvation saying "I'm saved, satisfied, and filled with the Holy Ghost. The names Ghost and Spirit are interchangeable. To be filled means to come under the influence of. When a person gives their heart to Jesus, at that very moment they are baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. The Bible says “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” Acts 2:4. In other words, it was the Holy Spirit who now resided in them that gave them the enablement to speak in diverse languages that were not of their native lands.

The Holy Spirit is the 3rd Person in the Trinity. The Father. Son and Holy Spirit are one God with different functions in the Godhead. The Holy Spirit is not an it, but HE is a PERSON! That's why we experience grief when we say or do something wrong when He has taken residence in us! Just like people are sensitive about certain things; the Holy Spirit is sensitive about certain things as well. He's a Person that experiences feelings! When you fill your gas tank up and drive your car; you eventually need to fill it up again! Throughout life, we constantly have to be refilled with the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit gives us the power to walk, talk, and live right. He is a teacher and will guide us into all Truth. The Truth is what Jesus would do and how He would do it according to the Word of God. If you've been filled with the Holy Spirit, you'll never be alone, praise God! Jesus said "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;" John 14:16. What are your thoughts?
