Jesus says “A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of THEIR unbelief” (Matthew 13:57-58).

In today's Daily devotional, we will continue furthering our discussion on social phobia. Yesterday, we focused on the impact of public speaking, and I shared my experience with this phobia. We also explored how social phobia can extend beyond public speaking, affecting individuals even in simple interactions and encounters with others. Today, we will expand our understanding of social phobia by examining its progression into a serious disorder. This disorder manifests as a persistent fear of being misjudged. Those who suffer from it constantly believe that others are closely scrutinizing their lives and are out to get them. This fear can have detrimental effects on various aspects of a person's life, including their ability to complete school assignments, perform well at work, and even impact the daily routines of a homemaker.

Many individuals face challenges when it comes to forming and maintaining relationships. If you are struggling with this, I want to offer some advice: consider surrendering your worries to Jesus. The Bible says, "Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you" (I Peter 5:7). Remember, the only opinion that truly matters is the Lord's. It's important to recognize that no matter how kind or talented you may be, there will always be a portion of people who won't approve of you. It’s been said and proven that approximately one out of ten people will not approve of you no matter how kind you are. This is simply because we are all unique and diverse individuals.

Some people do not believe that James Brown was a great entertainer. Not James? Not Brown? The Godfather? There are other entertainers and public figures that you may like and support, but other people do not and will not. The people in Jesus' hometown did not believe in Jesus initially, and so who are we? Jesus says “A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of THEIR unbelief” (Matthew 13:57-58). What are your thoughts?
