We have talked about giving honor to all to whom honor is due, and we have spoken specifically about spousal honoring. Husbands are to honor their own wives and wives their own husbands. The subject for today is how do we honor our own wives? ”Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel.” I Peter 3:7.
I venture to say that our wives are stronger than us in many areas, but generally speaking the Apostle Peter was referring to physical strength and the fact that the husband is supposed to be the head! In other words, it’s because the wives are called upon to submit to their own husbands. The husband is to work hard at studying his wife’s moods. We should know when they may need their space, or are upset and have something on their minds that needs our attention. Whatever our wives' needs, fears, and hopes are we are there for them.
Yes, we are to honor others, but gentlemen outside of God Himself, the most important person to honor is our own wives. Not someone else's wife, but our own. As a Pastor, I am responsible for other people's souls. If I'm in a meeting and my wife needs to speak to me; I have to excuse myself from whatever I'm doing. I honor my wife by taking that call! She is the first one whom you should share any good news or achievements with. You can say all the swelling things that a woman may want to hear, but actions ALWAYS speak louder than words!

When walking down the street, we should be walking on the outside so that if a car goes up on the curb, our wives are protected by us. Now that's some of the ways to honor them. “Husbands love your wives even as Christ loved the Church, and gave Himself for it.” Ephesians 5:25. What are your thoughts?
