Our Light is Supposed to Shine in a Dark Place

The Greek word for gentleness is chrestotes

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of March, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on the HOLY SPIRIT, the third person of the Trinity. Jesus said "I will pray the Father, that He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever;" What does it mean to be filled with the Holy Ghost? Stay connected to learn more.

The Bible says “Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.” Matthew 6:2.

Holy Spirit, March 25, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

The fruit of the Spirit produces a seed of gentleness. The Greek word for gentleness is chrestotes, which means to be useful or kind. That's certainly an attribute of the Holy Spirit that needs to manifest itself in the life of a believer! Another word for kindness is compassion: which is love in action. Most of us know that Jesus went about doing good, and the Holy Spirit will teach us, and lead us on how and where to do just that. There are people in the world that do acts of kindness, but who's getting the glory in those good deeds? The Lord wants the glory, and if you're receiving praise from man; you've already received your reward! The Bible says “Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.” Matthew 6:2.

God told Israel: "therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee." Remember the parable in Luke when both the Priest and the Levite walked past a man who had been robbed and beaten by thieves? They saw that the man needed help, and purposely walked to the other side of the street. They were coming from Jerusalem; which represents the Church. The Priest represents the preacher, and the Levite represents an official helper in the Church. Our light is supposed to shine in a dark place. Even a match that's lit can be seen at night when it's dark. Be a good Samaritan and let your light shine by performing kind acts in a dark world! Amen!” The LORD have appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3. What are your thoughts?
