Holy Spirit, March 21, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

The fruit of the Spirit are love and the next fruit is joy. Once you have love it gives you joy. The Bible says ‘for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10. As the seed of love develops; the more joy you experience because of the fulfillment of God's will in your life. It's a joy to serve Him. It's a joy to be in His presence. It's a joy to fulfill the will of a God who has given us abundant life. That abundant life begins right here on earth and like a pregnant woman; the Holy Spirit constantly reminds us that He is more than a bundle of joy that lives in us.

Remember when Elizabeth the cousin of the Virgin Mary was pregnant with John the Baptist? She was actually six months ahead of Jesus' mother in her pregnancy and when Mary went to greet Elizabeth the baby John leaped inside her womb because Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. “And it came to pass, as Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost.” Luke 1:41. Elizabeth’snresponse to Mary is confirmation of what occurred in her “For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.” Luke 1:44.

This was pure joy because of the presence of the Holy Spirit’s power. We can always rely on Him to guide us into all Truth. The Holy Spirit is a teacher and will keep that which is committed unto Him against that day. He encourages us and convicts us of sin. It's a joy to know that He gives us a second chance. Others that have not received the Holy Spirit are amazed when you experience similar problems as them, and you respond differently than they do. You always respond by displaying hope. Happiness is contingent upon the outside situations, but joy is from the inside regardless of what we may face, praise God! ”These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.” John 15:11.
