On This Journey With Jesus

Even in the face of loss, we have the hope of eternal life!

For the entire month of August Powerzone ministries will be diving deep into the topic of temptation. What exactly is temptation? We'll be exploring what it means and what the Bible has to say about it all Month long!

"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you" John 14:2.

Today will mark the conclusion of the discussion on the temptation to excessively grieve over the loss of a loved one. Recently, I embarked on a flight to my hometown of New York City, filled with anticipation. I refer to this anticipation as "great expectations" because I entrusted my life to someone I had never met before. The organization's reputation was commendable, and I had flown numerous times in the past, always reaching my destination safely. Even when turbulence, chaos, and storms occurred during previous flights, I maintained my trust in the capable hands of the crew. In those moments, a calm and reassuring voice would come over the intercom, providing comforting words that assured me everything would be alright.

On this journey with Jesus, we may not be in the cockpit. We cannot physically see Him, but we have faith that He is in control of our lives. Even when our lives are filled with turmoil and chaos, and the storms of life are raging, we can find comfort in the "still small voice" of the Holy Spirit. This voice reassures us that everything is going to be alright. I experienced this reassurance when my mother passed away and went home to be with Jesus, and I am grateful that everything has been alright. As Jesus said in John 14:2-3, "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."

That promise from the Lord Himself is indeed a source of reassurance for all who know Jesus as their Lord. The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Thessalonians, encourages us not to grieve like those who have no hope when it comes to those who have fallen asleep in Christ. "But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope" (1 Thessalonians 4:13). This is a reason to rejoice and say, "Hallelujah!" It reminds us that even in the face of loss, we have the hope of eternal life and the promise of being reunited with our loved ones in the presence of the Lord. It is a comforting and uplifting message that reminds us of the hope we have in Jesus.
