Today's Daily Devotional holds a special significance as I dedicate it to my earthly father, Elmore Bing Sr., on what would have been his 103rd birthday. I am grateful to have had him as my dad and I am honored to share his wake-up call with the world today. My father possessed remarkable skills in repairing and building construction. He had a natural talent for various tasks, Daddy once told me that he could do anything when it came to building a house, but he particularly disliked working with electricity. His true expertise lay in steam fitting, a field that involved the installation of piping systems.

In my father's case, his expertise in steam fitting was specifically for dry cleaning businesses. Each person possesses unique gifts and abilities, and it is a wonderful thing to discover our purpose on Earth and fulfill it. As Jeremiah 32:19 states, "Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings."

Due to circumstances, my father had to start working full-time at the age of 10, which prevented him from receiving a formal education. However, he gained knowledge through life experiences. He observed a gentleman working on a cleaning machine and initially had to fake his way through trial and error until he mastered the skill. Later on, my father had the opportunity to travel overseas, including multiple trips to Africa, where he installed washing machines and dryers. In 1980, he went to Lagos, Nigeria, and introduced these machines to the people who had been washing clothes by hand. It was a significant contribution that improved their lives.

However, the most profound washing experience in my father's life occurred after he was diagnosed with cancer. Seeking a change, he accompanied me to church one Sunday. Tomorrow, I will share more, the Lord's will. His purposes last eternally! “The counsel of the Lord standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations" (Psalm 33:11). What are your thoughts?
