Mother's Day

What is the first Commandment with a promise?

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of May, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will explore the most vital subject to discuss, and that is The Word! The Bible says "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword," How does that apply to our daily walk?

"Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." Exodus 20:12

Today is the Day that is set aside to honor mothers all over the world! We call it Mother's Day, but shouldn't we honor them every day? I certainly realize that some women who have given birth to children are not very good mothers. Sadly, some have abused their children; or simply not been there! Yet, we are called upon to honor them. How can you honor someone so unworthy of it? " Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise" Ephesians 6:2.

If you pour water into an empty glass to the halfway point: is it half empty or half full? If you say half empty, you're focusing on what you don't have. If you say half full, your focus is on what you do have! Maybe your mother was domineering or just plain unsupportive. You still should honor her. You honor her by refusing to spread negative things about her. You be kind towards her and even if it's not appreciated, God sees it. You should always recognize her as the woman who gave you life. Remember, no one else could've had you, but her!

We should honor them, and the Word of God says"It's the first Commandment with a promise! Your days will be long when you do. The half-point water illustration is referring to two factors. Your mother didn't abort you, and the Lord has more than likely placed at least one other person in your life that has been the mother figure you needed. Praise God for it, and remember your Mother-in-law, Grandmother, Church Mothers, Godmother, Aunts, cousins, and siblings who have acted in the role of a great mother figure to you. Isn't that glass half FULL? Happy Mother's Day, praise God! "Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee." Exodus 20:12. What are your thoughts?
