Living For The City

The temptation of believing that you will never see your loved one again.

For the entire month of August Powerzone ministries will be diving deep into the topic of temptation. What exactly is temptation? We'll be exploring what it means and what the Bible has to say about it all Month long!

"Wherefore comfort one another with these words" (1 Thessalonians 4:18).

August 13, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

In yesterday's Daily Devotional, I dedicated to my dearly beloved mother, Mable Bing Clark. The discussion focused on the temptation of believing that you will never see your loved one again. Jesus says, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God" (John 3:3). In other words, as long as you have received Jesus as Lord and your loved one has done the same, it is guaranteed that you will see them again, praise God. But what about my mother? She loved people with different cultural backgrounds, and she certainly had a great resume for someone bound for heaven based on her relationships with people. But would that be enough?

Her laughter remains in the hearts of all who were privileged to have known her. Even if what she was laughing at may not have been funny to others, her laughter would make you automatically laugh with her. Will I ever hear that laughter again? Stevie Wonder wrote a song called "Living For The City," and one of the lines in that song is "Is it just enough, just enough for the city." She was a beautiful woman inside and out, but with all that being said, she too had to receive Jesus as Lord for me and others to see her again.

If the Bible says it, then there is no reason not to believe that believers will be united again in Heaven. The Apostle Paul says, "The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words" (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18). Hallelujah! What are your thoughts?
