"And when he putteth forth His own sheep, He goeth before them, and the sheep follow Him: for they know His voice. And a stranger will they not follow" (John 10:4-5a)

We are continuing our discussion on fear, specifically the fear of consulting the Lord after misinterpreting His silence as consent. God is a God of confirmation. The LORD, speaking about Himself and His character, says, "that confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers" (Isaiah 44:26). In other words, when His children consult Him about a matter, He answers them and ensures that what He confirms will come to fruition! If you desire a relationship with a person who is married to someone else or of the same gender, and if your heart is continually determined to do so, the Lord will not sanction it at all.

The Lord grants us the freedom to exercise our own will (the permissive will). God's silence on a matter does not equate to His endorsement of our decisions; rather, He has simply given us free will to choose what we want, even if we deviate from His perfect plan. Nevertheless, it is crucial to note that the Lord will NEVER do anything or condone any behavior or decision that contradicts His Word. The Apostle Paul says, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine (teaching), for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." (II Timothy 3:16-17).

Yes, we will be equipped to do everything that is right from God's perspective as our actions align with His Holy Word. Even though we have erred in the past by not truly receiving confirmation as we believed we had, we should seek the Lord's counsel regularly. By doing so, we will be able to distinguish His voice and know when He is confirming our requests. The more we become accustomed to hearing the Lord's voice, the more familiar we will be with it, and this shields us from the cunning schemes of the adversary, leaving no room for deception. "And when he putteth forth His own sheep, He goeth before them, and the sheep follow Him: for they know His voice. And a stranger will they not follow" (John 10:4-5a). What are your thoughts?
