Juneteenth-A Day to Celebrate Freedom!

Everyone that hears this Truth and receives it will be free indeed!

For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised: he also is to be feared above all gods. 1Chronicles 16:25

For the entire month of June, the Powerzone Ministries' daily devotionals will focus on The Truth. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Does the truth set you free or make you free? Learn the difference by following and reading this month's devotionals.

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed!” John 8:36

June 19, 2023 By Dr. George Bing

Today is the day that we commemorate the freedom of enslaved people in the United States of America. It is considered to be the land of the free, but sadly for many African American people, that was not the case until Juneteenth. Truth be told there were people in prestigious positions of Government who refused to acknowledge that after the Civil War ended in 1862, the Emancipation Proclamation was established. It declared that all people who had been enslaved before that law was established were now free. It was not until June the nineteenth 1865 that Major General Gordon Granger issued the order that officially freed slaves in the largest state in the Union which is Texas.

It is a day to celebrate freedom, but why did it take so long for the law to come into effect? The (law) Word had been established but the owners refused to make the people that were enslaved aware that they were free. They deliberately withheld the information. The Union army had not gained control in Texas and they had to battle because African Americans still had no rights there either. In the same way, the devil and his minions do not want people enslaved in sin to hear about the Good News of the Gospel and the work that Jesus did on Calvary to free all of us who were enslaved by sin. The Bible says “Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28.

Everyone that hears this Truth and receives it will be free indeed. Hallelujah! For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16. Those enslaved had to accept their freedom and today salvation is based on that same premise. “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed!” John 8:36.
