Jesus Heals the Blind

There were at least several men in the Bible who were blind, and the Lord healed them.

This December, we're embarking on a special spiritual journey centered around the true reason for the season – our beloved Savior, Jesus Christ! Join us as we delve into daily devotionals dedicated to exploring the life, teachings, and profound love of Jesus.

"Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us" (Ephesians 3:20).

In today's Daily devotional, we will be discussing the greatest name, Jesus Christ, and His power to heal. We have discussed diverse ways and methods through which the Lord has healed people. In today's lesson, I am calling your attention to a rare method that is illustrated in the text we will reference today. There were at least several men in the Bible who were blind, and the Lord healed them.

The story that will be our focal point today is about a man whom Jesus used His spittle to put on the blind man's eyes. Some of the people in Bethsaida, where Jesus had just arrived, brought the blind man to Him for healing. The Bible says, "And He took him by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when He had spit on his eyes, and put His hands upon him, He asked him if he saw aught" (Mark 8:23).

The Lord wanted to know if the man saw anything after the spittle was applied to his eyes. The man did see something, but he wasn't completely healed yet. "And he looked up and said, 'I see men as trees, walking'" (Mark 8:24). After this, Jesus immediately touched the man's eyes again. "After that, he put his hands again upon his eyes and made him look up, and he was restored and saw every man clearly" (Mark 8:25).

The question that I believe was posed then and even now is why Jesus had to lay hands on the man a second time. The first thing to examine in the text is what happened before Jesus and His disciples arrived in Bethsaida. Well, He was teaching His disciples about understanding coming in parts.

This would be a way for Jesus to teach His disciples a spiritual truth. More on this tomorrow, Lord willing. "Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us" (Ephesians 3:20). What are your thoughts?
