Jesus Christ, and His Power to Give You What You Need

We should never pray with a spirit of entitlement.

This December, we're embarking on a special spiritual journey centered around the true reason for the season – our beloved Savior, Jesus Christ! Join us as we delve into daily devotionals dedicated to exploring the life, teachings, and profound love of Jesus.

"Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33).

In today's daily devotional, we will be discussing the greatest name, Jesus Christ, and His power to give you what you need. Have you ever prayed about something that you really wanted the Lord to do for you, and it didn't happen? You were disappointed because it appeared that God didn't answer your prayer the way you wanted Him to. "Why didn't you give me what I wanted? God, do you really love me?"

Then you begin to give the Lord your resume, as if He isn't aware of your faithfulness to Him. Perhaps you are faithful to your local church, and you should be. The Bible says, "Forsake not the assembly of yourselves as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another and so much the more as you see the day approaching" (Hebrews 10:25).

You tithe and serve in some capacity in the ministry, utilizing the gifts that the Lord has blessed you with, and you should do that. "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it" (Malachi 3:10). Your response to that is, "God, did you close some of those windows?"

It is imperative when you pray to have the proper disposition as you approach a holy God. The Bible says, "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God" (Philippians 4:6). Being thankful when we make a request to the Lord is one of the keys to getting the answer to your prayer. We should never pray with a spirit of entitlement.

My wife and I purchased our first home on this day twenty-three years ago, and it was not a mansion, but we are grateful for what we needed at that time. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33). What are your thoughts?
