Is Jesus Your First Choice?

Jesus Christ, and His power to heal.

This December, we're embarking on a special spiritual journey centered around the true reason for the season – our beloved Savior, Jesus Christ! Join us as we delve into daily devotionals dedicated to exploring the life, teachings, and profound love of Jesus.

"For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds," saith the LORD, "because they called thee an outcast, saying, 'This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.'" - Jeremiah 30:17.

In today's daily devotional, we will be continuing our discussion on the greatest name, Jesus Christ, and His power to heal. As we have previously discussed, the Lord heals in diverse ways. The Bible advises us that the Lord Himself, throughout scripture, says that He will heal His people and He gives reasons why. One of those reasons is His reputation. "For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds," saith the LORD, "because they called thee an outcast, saying, 'This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after.'" - Jeremiah 30:17.

The Lord is saying here that He will heal His people, especially when it may appear to their enemies that He has abandoned them. In this passage, the Lord is speaking about Israel, His chosen people. However, if you are a child of God, this scripture is referring to you as well. Remember Jairus? He was an official in the local synagogue when Jesus was here in the flesh. He had a twelve-year-old daughter who was very sick and close to death.

The Bible says, "And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, and besought him greatly, saying, 'My daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.'" - Mark 5:22-23. If you study Jairus' background, you will discover that at that time he was not a follower of Jesus Christ.

He had heard that Jesus had been performing miracles and healing people with a simple touch. He called upon the Lord because, truth be told, he had no other alternative. Is Jesus your first choice, or do you try everyone and everything else before turning to Him? The wise writer, King Solomon, says, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." - Proverbs 3:5. What are your thoughts?
